Galleries' "Pre-Long Beach Sale", June 5-7, 2000, Lot 1590, sold for
$5,175.00, where it was described as follows: "AU 50. 1799/8 15-Star Reverse Bolender-3
Choice color,
surfaces, rims and strike. The first time that an overdate is found
on a Bust Dollar is in 1799 -- the single overdate obverse is
combined with three different reverse, this being the last which has
the famous "15-star" reverse. There are two extra stars
almost buried in the clouds, with just the points showing. The one
at extreme left is the most easily spotted. This reverse carried
over to B-4 (in a marriage with a perfect-date obverse). Always in
demand; was Rarity-5 but revised to Rarity-3 for the fifth revised
edition of Bolender (1988)."
