Notes:
The 1881-CC Half Eagle is a very rare coin in any grade.  About Uncirculated examples are extremely rare and Uncirculated examples are virtually unobtainable.

Beginning in 1881-CC, larger letters were used for the mintmark on the back of the Half Eagles.  This larger style mintmark was used in all subsequent years except 1883, when the mintmark reverted to the small letters type (most likely, a leftover die of the small mintmark type was used to make the 1883-CC Half Eagles).

PCGS has graded only two Mint State 1881-CC Half Eagles, the finest of which is a single MS-65.
