Notes:
The finest 1862-S Double Eagle graded by PCGS is a single MS-63.
In
August, 2004, NGC published a partial population report of gold coins
recovered from the shipwrecked SS Republic. Included were 125
1862-S Double Eagles, ranging in grade from EF-45 to MS-63. 43 of
the coins were listed as "Doubled 86".
