Notes:
The finest 1859-S Double Eagle graded by PCGS is a single MS-63.
In
August, 2004, NGC published a partial population report of gold coins
recovered from the shipwrecked SS Republic. Included were 66
1859-S Double Eagles, ranging in grade from Very Fine to MS-61. Two
of the coins were listed as "Doubled 18", one of the coins was listed as
"Doubled 9", and six were listed as "FS-011 DDO".
